Three New Designers Join Speak

Three New Designers Join Speak

A couple weeks ago, we introduced you to Amy Dunbar, the newest account manager to join the Speak team. As promised, we have more new employees that we are excited to introduce. Today we’ll get to know three new designers that have recently joined our digital agency.

This triple-threat of talented artists bring a wide range of skills to our team, from beautiful web design to conversions and have been great additions to the Speak family. To get to know each of them a little better, we’ve given them a few questions that provide a quick summary of their skills and their personality (and even managed to snag some family photos for your viewing pleasure!) To learn more about any of our new designers, feel free to drop them a line by calling our offices or send them a message.

How will your prior experience help you at Speak?

The most important thing for my position at Speak is my passion. I fell in love with websites in 1999 when I created my very first site in Geocities (who remembers the animated GIF abuse?). Since then, I have earned an associate degree in Visual Communications in 2007 and then a bachelor degree in Mobile Development in 2014.

Freelancing since 2004, I've worked with so many different clients on over 700 different web and graphic design projects, from a major telecommunications company website to giving a future attorney general some digital liposuction and facelift. At the end of the day, being a web designer at Speak is best served with my love of learning, sprinkled with a decade of experience and drive for excellence, and topped with my excitement at what the future holds for web technology.

What is your expertise?

My expertise is in translating what a client wants for their website and creating the reality for that. There is so much that goes into a website, not just about HTML like the good ole days. Special care is given to each website to make sure you get the best user experience and interface while being fully optimized for search engines. Being an avid learner, searcher and browser of the web keeps me up-to-date with the latest in these technologies. I am a designer by heart with a love for development.

What do you do in your time outside of Speak?

When I am not designing awesome websites at Speak Creative, you can find me creating ethnic foods with my daughter, playing games with my son, running around with our miniature schnauzers or watching movies with my husband. When I do get on my Mac, you can find me coding mobile apps or dabbling with the latest in mobile development. I hear it's the next best thing.

What excites you about working at Speak?

This is my first professional position, so I’m excited to join a small, intimate team at Speak, but with wide and varied projects. In the short time I’ve been here, I can say that it never gets boring. There’s always something new and I’ve already learned plenty.
What is your expertise?

I’m new to the field, but do have a good bit of experience in jQuery. jQuery is awesome at allowing you to force content to align with a design vision, especially when that content can’t be manipulated on its own. We’ve gotten to know each other pretty closely as I’ve taken on different projects. I’ve also been learning a good bit about programming languages through my work here.
What do you do outside of Speak?

I am passionate about automobiles. I love everything about them. I spend a lot of my time driving my own car or helping people with their cars, or car-buying decisions, and I even have some car designs of my own. I am also a novelist. I have one science-fiction book on the market currently, and two more set to arrive by year’s end.

Why are you excited to work at Speak?

I’m excited to work at speak for two main reasons: the quality of work and the quality of my coworkers. Speak has a standard of excellence in their work which drew me to them, and the fact that I get to work with such a talented and experienced team is just icing on the cake!
What is your expertise?

My expertise lies in branding and print, but I have a strong foundation in web design and development. At the core, my expertise lies in telling a company’s story and helping them connect with their audience.
What do you do in your time outside of Speak?

Outside of Speak, I am an avid book reader, movie-lover and soccer fanatic. I love spending time with my wife and family, playing the occasional video game, and hope to someday participate in the 24 Hours of Lemons!
