Something's Gotta GIF: How to Beat the Midday Slump

Unlike most offices, we meet the mid-afternoon slump head on at Speak and transform it into a spark of energy. As an innovative digital agency, we know it’s important to keep the creative juices flowing all day long. We have a lunch break and unlimited coffee just like everyone else, but to really get the gears turning we sometimes engage in an afternoon GIF-off.

To get a better idea of how seriously we take these legendary inner-office competitions, we asked the GIF Master himself, BJ Maxwell, to give some tips. Here’s what he had to say.

The Importance of a GIF

GIF-offs are daring intercompany tests of wit and whim waged in our chat room. Those who participate respond to a variety of questions or situations with the funniest animated .gif they can find on the web.

Topics range from pop culture (i.e., Justin Timberlake) to upcoming weddings in the Speak family and what other Speaksters are really doing on vacation.

Here is an example for your enjoyment:

How would you react if you received an invitation to Justin Timberlake’s house-warming party in Nashville?

Your appropriate answers could include any of the following:

Because every office has a fanboy.

If you haven’t included a Back to the Future .gif then you haven’t brought your A game.

Believe it or not, not everyone is thrilled with the goings-on of Justin Timberlake.

As Gloria Estefan already told us, when it comes to JT the rhythm is going to get you.

More Than Just a Pretty GIF

Hopefully we’ve gotten a chuckle or two out of you, but there is another reason we blogged about our GIF-offs today. Let me put it simply: Speak is a family. We get each other’s jokes, and we have each other’s backs. We don’t let an afternoon slump or a project hiccup throw us off our game. We use our creativity to make others smile and to push through. That could mean an eye-catching website or an amazing app that was exactly what you had in mind. It could mean a productive conversation with an attentive account manager, who is committed to delivering the solutions you need.

Why is it important to understand how we work together? We’re not the kind of company that hands you our work and walks away. We want you to become part of the Speak family. When it comes to developing an effective digital strategy, we’re here for you every step of the way, and we look forward to getting to know you while we help you reach your goals.

Give us a call (888-337-7325) or send us a message if you’re looking for a brand partner who is as excited as you are about growing your organization’s web presence. Even better, tweet us your favorite GIF and show us what that excitement looks like.
