We've Added Three to the Speak Team

We've Added Three to the Speak Team

As we mentioned in our last post about our midyear company retreat, we have welcomed several new members to the Speak team this summer. Many of our clients will (or already have) met the new account managers, Megan Jones in Memphis and Tyler Batts in Nashville, and we have enjoyed getting to know our newest web developer Doris Downs since she joined us during #SpeakHalftime. But for those of you who haven't been acquainted with these new faces, we wanted them to share with you their passions that brought them to us, and the expertise they will use to serve our clients and strengthen our team as a whole. So without further adieu...

Megan Jones

Why are you excited to work at Speak?

I am fortunate to join the Speak team where I love who I work with just as much as what I do. The amount of expertise and creativity within this single company is incredible! I am excited to contribute to the success of Speak while continuing to learn from the best in the business.

What's your expertise?
My expertise lies within one of my greatest passions - helping people. That passion and desire to cultivate meaningful relationships fuels my ability to solve problems and market solutions. Speak has all the tools and resources to produce stunning designs and build effective digital platforms to drive results for clients. Like a puzzle, I fit those pieces together to meet needs and exceed expectations.

What kind of prior experience do you bring to the team?
After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s degree in mass communication, I devoted 3 years to working for a non-profit organization where I managed volunteers and planned events for children and their families. Through that position, I gained experience partnering and collaborating with a wide variety of individuals, groups, donors, and vendors. As I join the Speak team, I look forward to applying that experience in order to provide exceptional service for our clients of all sizes and industries.

How do you spend your time outside of Speak?
I am very mission driven and I love working with kids. Most recently, I’ve joined forces with the local chapter of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) as a volunteer to help “Turn Type 1 into Type None.” From office work to large scale events, the entire experience continues to be a fun and rewarding endeavor that positively impacts the lives of others.

I also love to travel. It’s not uncommon for me to squeeze in a weekend adventure to see family, friends, or the beach (which I also consider a good friend). Additionally, I’ve been fortunate to travel abroad several times to destinations that include Africa and Australia. I have a growing wish list of places to visit in the future!

Why are you excited to work at Speak?
If I were able to sit down and map out everything I desire out of my career, Speak would be that place. I’m excited to join a team of professionals who are truly remarkable at what they do, and a culture that sets me up to succeed in my career.

What's your expertise?
As an Account Manager, my expertise is helping clients succeed. It’s my goal to not only help clients see their projects through to completion, but to help them articulate their goals, find their voice, and offer recommendations to bring their business profitability and growth.

What kind of prior experience do you bring to the team?
Since graduating with a marketing degree in 2011, I’ve spent the last four years helping Small Business, Nonprofits, Churches, and Corporations grow their profitability through sales and marketing strategy. I’ve also had the opportunity to take courses and educate myself in Web Development and Design strategies. My overall passion is being able to develop a relationship with a client, hear what they are wanting to accomplish, and help them get from point A to point B. As an Account Manager I look forward to meeting all of our clients, helping them achieve their goals, and watching their organizations grow.

How do you spend your time outside of Speak?
When I’m not at Speak, I’m most likely spending time with my bride-to-be planning for our October wedding, exploring our new hometown of Nashville, and traveling across the Southeast. Random facts about me include: I’m from Greenville, SC, I played competitive golf for 13 years, I’m a songwriter, I eat tacos at least 4 times a week, I love to workout (so I can eat more tacos), and I’m constantly drinking coffee.

Why are you excited to work at Speak?
Speak Creative is a well run company full of smart, creative people doing excellent work. Additionally, the values of the company align well with my personal values making it a good fit for me. Everyone seems friendly, hard-working and honest. I am excited to be a part of such a great group.

What's your expertise?
Technically, my favorite languages and technologies to work with currently are AngularJS, Javascript, and other front-end languages and platforms. I have worked with a variety of additional languages and platforms, such as C#, SQL, .NET, C++, etc at various times in my career and education. I have a particular interest in User Experience Design and would like to continue developing in that area as well as growing in technical expertise.

What kind of prior experience do you bring to the team?
My prior experience includes working as a Software Engineer for a local talent management software company and working as an Applications Developer Analyst at the University of Florida, doing primarily web development.

How do you spend your time outside of Speak?
Most of my time outside of work is spent with my family (my fiance, two wonderful kids, and two small dogs). I also enjoy reading, professional development tasks, writing, and geeky pursuits such as video games and D&D.

We hope you've enjoyed learning a little more about our latest additions to the Speak team.
