3 Tips for Easy Content Generation + A FREE Guide

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: social media marketing is vital in your marketing efforts. Where Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and the like were once simply a means for brands to connect with a portion of their audience that also followed them on social media, now it can be, and often is, the place that many people discover and make the decision to invest in new brands. 

Posting on social media as a brand or organization is more important than ever before, and posting good content that your audience will want to engage with can in turn help you expand that audience and grow your business. 

But, we get it. Writing, designing, and creating content across all of your brand’s social channels in a way that targets and engages your audiences – and getting it right every time – can be daunting. With content needing to be spread across so many platforms, and with the fast-paced nature of social media that seems to reward content creators for posting as regularly as possible, it’s an exhausting prospect to consider that you need to be regularly churning out great content for your brand that will perform well in terms of engagement and get your audience to pay attention.

Tip 1: Splinter your content. 

Every brand has a story to tell, messaging you want to get across to your audience, expertise you want to highlight. You want to be sure your audience sees all of these parts of your brand loud and clear, right? Why not make sure the topics you generate are shared in as many ways as possible? 

One topic idea can – and should! – become several different pieces and types of content to share on the various platforms you use to engage your target audience.  

Splintering the messages and topics you want to share into multiple posts across multiple platforms is vital to generating plenty of content to share and making sure your target audience hears your key messaging. 

So how do you do it? Breaking up your content is simple if you know what you want to share, the platforms you want to share it across, and the types of content you want to create. And don’t worry. Tip 2: Take advantage of user-generated content. 

If you haven’t heard of user-generated content (UGC) before, it’s as amazing as it sounds. UGC refers to content that is created by the users of a brand. This can mean anything from comments and reviews to images and video featuring your brand or product(s), and can come from social media, your website, third-party websites or blogs, and video-sharing platforms like TikTok and YouTube. 

UGC is an easy (and free!) way to engage your audience and create greater brand awareness. And, if taking advantage of re-posted content seems too good to be true, it gets better. According to the Nielsen Consumer Trust Index, 92% of consumers trust organic, user-generated content more than they trust traditional advertising. This means your audience will be more likely to engage with your content, visit your website, and become customers themselves.  

Don’t have UGC to share yet? Good news for brands – data shows customers are more than happy to write reviews when prompted. The same consumer trust survey found that when asked for feedback, 68% of customers or former customers wrote reviews online. Try reaching out to people who have previously used your services or purchased your products to ask for feedback, reviews, or testimonials. Or, post a call for images or videos featuring your brand on social media and offer to repost your favorites. This sort of cross-sharing is a win-win and is sure to get a positive response. 

By showcasing the great things that consumers already have to say about your brand, you can leverage authenticity and generate more content for yourself. This isn’t your mother’s re-posted content, though. Take advantage of design tools like Canva to keep even UGC branded and seamless on your social channels.  

Tip 3: Create content that can be shared on multiple platforms.  

Similar to Tip #1, when brainstorming and creating content, keep in mind all the platform options you have available to you. As all of the big social media platforms compete for users’ time and attention, we’re seeing more and more crossover of features and concepts. Just think about it: Snapchat stories inspired Instagram Stories, which inspired Facebook Stories, and who knows? Maybe Twitter will roll out 280-second stories next week. Or… something like that. Same idea with Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts. The list goes on.  

While this can get overwhelming and hard to keep track of as a user, for a brand, this means more opportunities to share one piece of content across several platforms. So, next time you have a great idea for a TikTok, don’t forget to also share it on other social channels for higher engagement, more views, and greater ROI.
